Javier Gutiérrez is one of the most respected and beloved figures in the Spanish audiovisual landscape, an actor capable of moving effortlessly between the most demanding drama and the sharpest comedy. With an extensive filmography and a remarkable ability to bring truth to every character he portrays, he’s become a key figure for understanding the recent evolution of cinema and television fiction in Spain. In recognition of his career, his relevance within the industry and his interdisciplinary nature – moving with equal ease between the audiovisual arts and theatre – he’ll receive the Calpurnia de Honra at the 31st edition of OUFF – Ourense Film Festival.

Javier Gutiérrez was born in Asturias, but is Galician by adoption. When he was just one year old, his family moved to Ferrol, where he lived until the age of 19. From there, he moved to Madrid to train as an actor and, although he had to wait some time for his film debut – in 2002, at the age of 30 – he gradually carved out a place for himself in the industry and in the hearts of audiences.

Trained in theatre and endowed with an uncommon versatility, Gutiérrez stands out for his precision as a performer, his intelligence in exploring the psychological nuances of his characters, and his ability to transform seemingly minor roles into memorable figures. In this way, he’s brought to life characters as diverse as Inspector Juan Robles in La isla mínima, Álvaro in El autor, Marcos in Campeones and the endearing Sátur in the television series Águila Roja, all of whom have become part of the collective memory.

The recipient of numerous awards, including two Goya Awards, three Unión de Actores y Actrices Awards and various distinctions at national and international festivals, to which this Calpurnia de Honra is now added, Javier Gutiérrez represents a way of understanding the profession based on honesty, craftsmanship and commitment to the story being told. His presence on screen is a guarantee of quality. His name is a promise of another unforgettable character.

José Manuel Lorenzo is an essential figure in Spanish audiovisual media. A prolific producer and driving force behind projects that have set milestones in television and film fiction, Lorenzo stands out for his ability to spot compelling stories, bring together talented teams, and turn ideas into works that resonate with audiences. Guided by quality, innovation, and respect for the craft, his work places him as an industry benchmark. For all these reasons, he’ll be honoured with the Chano Piñeiro Award at the OUFF – Ourense Film Festival, as a recognition of his decisive contribution to contemporary audiovisual culture.

Although he trained as an industrial engineer, his passion for storytelling soon broke through. He began his career in television, first at RTVE and later as General Manager of Antena 3 and Canal+. Over time, he took things a step further and founded his first production companies, launching projects for the small screen, the big screen, and even theatre. He also participated in the creation of PATE (Productoras Asociadas de Televisión España), an association he served as president until 2021.

Driven by new challenges, he also put his acting skills to the test under the direction of greats such as Guillermo del Toro and Agustín Díaz Yanes. Across a career spanning more than 25 years, Lorenzo has successfully combined artistic ambition with the ability to reach diverse audiences. His body of work ranges from major television productions to auteur cinema, capturing stories that found their own place in the collective memory. Notable examples include the feature films Just Walking (2008) and Señor, dame paciencia (2017), as well as the series The Hunt (2019–2023) and Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War (2020). Lorenzo is also a producer who views creation as a collaborative process in which every professional – screenwriter, actor, director – makes a crucial contribution to the final result. This collaborative vision has made him a vital ally for many of the most prominent names in Spanish film and television.

Charo López is one of the most fascinating, magnetic and commanding figures in the history of the performing arts in Spain. With an unmistakable stage presence and a deep, unforgettable voice, her career spans more than five decades of excellence in film, theatre and television.

Born in Salamanca, she studied philosophy and literature before being discovered by director Gonzalo Suárez, with whom she began a fruitful artistic collaboration in films such as Ditirambo (1969), El extrañamiento, and La regenta. Her extraordinary dramatic ability and beauty quickly made her one of the defining faces of Spanish cinema in the 1970s and 1980s, working with filmmakers such as Mario Camus, Pilar Miró, Carlos Saura, Basilio Martín Patino and Pedro Almodóvar.

It was on television, however, that Charo López achieved mythical status and an enduring place in the hearts of the Spanish public. Her portrayal of the unforgettable Clara Aldán in Los gozos y las sombras (1982) – the acclaimed adaptation of the work by Galician writer Gonzalo Torrente Ballester – marked a turning point in the history of Spanish television fiction. Her connection and enduring affinity with Galician literature and landscapes were further strengthened by another memorable role: Sabel in Los pazos de Ulloa (1985), based on the novel by Emilia Pardo Bazán.

In film, her definitive breakthrough came with her powerful performance in Montxo Armendáriz’s Secretos del corazón (1997), for which she won the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won the Blue Angel at the Berlin Film Festival.

Theatre is her other great passion and a constant refuge, with memorable productions including Tengamos el sexo en paz, El reclinatorio, Ojos de agua, and La infamia. Honoured with the Gold Medal for Fine Arts Merit, the Ondas Award, and several Fotogramas de Plata awards, Charo López embodies uncompromising talent, artistic integrity, and the absolute charisma of a true icon of Spanish culture.

Spanish actor, director and writer, he’s just made his feature-length directorial debut with The Bad Son (El mal hijo).

He trained in acting at the Superior School of Dramatic Art in Murcia and holds a master’s degree in advanced studies from UNIR. He took contemporary dance classes, but acting has always been his passion.

His first appearance as a professional actor was in the Antena 3 series El secreto de Puente Viejo (2016), playing the role of Elías Mato. A year later came his massive success with Money Heist (La casa de papel), for which he was nominated Best Supporting Actor in Television at the Actors and Actresses Union Awards in both 2018 and 2019. Other television hits in his fiction career include Elite (Élite, 2019) and El Cid (2020).

While working on the aforementioned TV series, he launched his film career by shooting Historias románticas (un poco) cabronas in 2016, which was released in 2018. That same year saw the release of Everybody Knows by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, a movie that catapulted him internationally and in which he shared the screen with Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, and Argentine actor Ricardo Darín. That same year, he premiered the crime thriller Gun City by Galician director Dani de la Torre, alongside Luis Tosar. His latest released film as an actor is Tied Up (2026) by fellow Galician filmmaker Ángel de la Cruz.

In theatre, he performed in the production of Equus, which earned him the Best Actor Award at the inaugural María Jesús Sirvent Awards. He’s also been part of theatre companies such as Cambalache Teatro and La Joven Compañía.
