The poster of the OUFF · Ourense Film Festival lends face, colour, and soul to the festival’s 31st edition, which will take place from September 25 to October 4. It is a design by Xulia Vicente (Cariño, 1993).

About the author

Xulia is one of the Galician artists and comic creators with the greatest national and international projection, a leading figure of Galician comics, and recipient of the prestigious Ignatz Award in the United States. Her style—full of dynamism, sensitivity, and narrative freshness—is unmistakable, elevates the festival’s visual identity, and connects directly with new aesthetic languages and new generations of film lovers.

The meaning

This year’s poster is a sincere and explicit tribute to all the professions linked to cinema, especially those who work behind the camera, but also to the way of making films. The basis of the illustration is a large eye —the creator’s gaze— that opens up to see, share, and debate the artistic works of other authors so that the seed of creativity and artistic creation can be planted. In this way, a tree of idea‑sharing is generated, allowing works and talent to flourish.

Another of the most notable elements of the piece by the artist from A Coruña, which also gains great prominence in Soraya Picouto’s animated version, is the birds that represent precisely the abundance of ideas, projects, and talent present in today’s film scene. The heron, so characteristic of the banks of the Miño River in Ourense, has its own place among the birds depicted, connecting the entire piece with our city.
