Contaaluz, de Xosé Poldras

An artistic portfolio by Xosé Poldras that establishes a dialogue between the art of printmaking and the very foundations of the motion picture image

The work comprises three engravings inspired by the famous studies of motion by Eadweard Muybridge, a key figure in the investigation of movement and its mechanisms of representation. The portfolio also includes a Galician translation of the Lumière brothers’ first cinematograph patent. The collection is completed with two texts by David González Couso and Valentín Barreiros Bermejo, offering distinct perspectives on the Seventh Art.

Contaaluz thus becomes a delicate editorial and artistic piece where past and present meet to reflect on the human fascination with capturing, recording and reproducing motion.
