Synopsis
In the very depths of the literary underworld, forgotten, our teenage diaries eke out a meagre existence. Crías builds an archive from these invisible writings, imagines ways of engaging with them, and documents their destruction. A feminist film-zine that transforms personal embarrassments through communal discourse, whilst coming to terms with the process of writing and rewriting life, the act of keeping a diary and creative work. The film wades through the mire of the corny, seeking out the spaces where writing and life intertwine, where writing and the destruction of what has been written follow one another, and where the possibility of making an archive-film is thwarted by the impossibility of finalising a creative work that is in a state of constant revision. We live by telling our stories.

Film director, screenwriter, film producer, director of photography and music. She holds a degree in journalism from the University of Southampton. In Barcelona, she completed a PhD in audiovisual communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Together with Emilio Fonseca, she founded the production company Walkie Talkie Films (Barcelona, 2008), which specialises in auteur documentary film and experimental video. In 2024, she also co-founded the production company Animala. In 2015, she presented Carretera de una sola dirección, a solo directorial project exploring the roadside brothel as a non-place and an invisible phenomenon abandoned by society. The project, which marked a turning point in the filmmaker’s career, won the Proxecto X Films award at the 2015 Punto de Vista Festival. In 2018, she released Tódalas abrandases que coñezo, her first feature film, which won an award at the Ourense Film Festival.
