Synopsis
A feral young woman raised by wolves is captured and thrust into modern society, only to be rescued by a radical couple who isolate her on an abandoned oil rig. But as she uncovers the lies of her new “parents”, she’s forced to stand on her own two feet and ultimately decide whether to integrate into society or return to the wild.

David Verbeek studied film, photography and philosophy at The New School in New York and graduated in directing from the Dutch Film Academy in 2005. During his studies, he completed his first feature film, Beat (2004), which was selected for the Rotterdam Film Festival. In the following ten years, he made a total of six feature films that have earned him international acclaim. Titles such as Shanghai Trance (2008) had a major release in China, where it was screened in 240 theatres across 88 cities. His film Club Zeus (2011), a Mandarin-language film set in Shanghai, won an award in Rotterdam. In 2010, Ru U There was selected for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. His most recent works are Dead & Beautiful (2021) and The Wolf, the Fox & the Leopard (2025).
